POLICE have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly using his handphone camera to record a 17-year-old girl taking a shower.
The girl was unaware she was being “filmed” while having a bath at her house in Taman Bunga Raya in Wangsa Maju at 6am yesterday.
The 22-year-old man had almost completed the “shooting” when he slipped and broke a glass window and in the process dropped the handphone into the bathroom.
The noise of the glass shattering alerted the girl and her father, a police officer, who went to investigate. Sentul district police deputy chief Supt Zainuddin Ahmad said the 17-year-old girl checked the video footage on the phone and was shocked to find she was the actress.
But what was more shocking was that the man had the audacity to walk to her front door and ask for the return of his handphone, claiming it had fallen into her bathroom by accident.
However, the 56-year-old police officer became angry when he saw footage of his daughter on the handphone
and immediately arrested the man.
“We are investigating to see how long the suspect has been doing this,” said Zainuddin.
Zainuddin said police are investigating the case under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which covers words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a person.
If convicted the Peeping Tom could face a jail term of up to five years or a fine or both. It is learnt that the man from Taman Sentosa Klang is single.
