CHEMICALS in plastics are "feminising" the brains of baby boys making them shun traditional male toys like cars, trains and guns, say scientists.
Those exposed to high doses in the womb are less willing to join "rough and tumble" games and preferred "gender neutral" activities such as sports, according to the research published in the International Journal of Andrology..
Although the plastics industry says the chemicals - known as phthalates which can mimic the female sex hormone oestrogen - are safe, the European Union has banned many of them from cosmetics, teething rings and children's toys.
