Lance Corporal Katrina Hodge was drafted in to compete in the Miss World contest after Olympic athlete Rachel Christie relinquished her title last week following her arrest over a nightclub brawl with another beauty queen.
The 22-year-old soldier has already served in Iraq but said she was hoping to join the effort in Afghanistan after her Miss England commitments concluded in July next year.
