Rinko is just like any other girlfriend. She will want you to hold her hand, kiss her and tell her that you love her. But Rinko is no person, she's just a virtual character in a game.
In popular Japanese game publisher Konami's latest dating game Love Plus for the handheld Nintendo DS console, players can interact with their virtual dates by touch and speech, taking such games to an all new level.
The virtual girls, all of which are depicted as high school aged teenagers with curvy figures and large busts, will demand their 'boyfriends' to do a multitude of tasks.
This includes things like telling their dates "I love you" 100 times by speaking into the DS' microphone, even tough you're trying to be inconspicuous on the train.
Gamers can also hold hands with their virtual dates, or even give her a kiss. According to a report on Yahoo!Games, games don't have to physically kiss their Nintendo DS screens, just a tap on the girl's lips will do.
Those with more lewd intentions can also "touch" their girlfriends with the handheld console's stylus (fingers optional).
Monogamy doesn't seem to matter either - players can go adventurous and date all the girls in the game. Each is supposed to have a different personality.
And when dating time's over, players can also 'dream' about their girlfriends doing various things. Screenshots from a Japanese site show 'dreams' like a wedding scene and a naughty teacher in fishnet stockings holding a whip.
With the game gaining popularity in Japan, many wives and girlfriends have complained about their significant others spending too much time on the game.
Is it really too much, or just some harmless fun?
