Teacher jailed for raping 'sinful' students

A teacher, who had made his students to believe that he could change their fortune and get their sins forgiven, has been found guilty of raping nine of them.

Mathematic teacher Sun Jin-shou, 57, was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment on Friday.

Taiwan's Apple Daily reported that the teacher of a secondary school in Taiwan, had in his classes propagated the beliefs of reincarnation and karma to his students to make them believe that they have carried the sins from their previous lives.


He would portray himself as their saviour who had the power to help them change for the better and repent. He also distributed talismans to them.

He would ask the girls to see him after class and told them that their were of the opposite sex and had forced the women to have sex with them in their previous lives.

The teacher, who claimed to be able to communicate with the afterlife, told them that 'these women' would come and seek revenge on them in the current life.

He told them that they would die in a tragedy, contract sexually-transmitted diseases and would not have a happy marriage unless they had sex with him as his sperm had the power to protect them.

When the girls agreed, he would bring them to motels and raped them.

He told them that they needed to undergo the 'therapy' 20 to 30 times to wash off their sins completely.

He also persuaded the girls to let him take their nude photographs, saying that their fortune would change if they presented the photographs to the spirits.

He made them swear that their whole family would die if they told this to another person.

Sun was believed to have committed the crime on dozens of students over the past 12 years but many of them did not come forward.

His act was only exposed when a student complained to a counselling teacher in January.

After Sun was arrested, police found more than 1,000 nude photographs at his home, most of them were close-ups of female private parts and breasts. Some of the women were prostitutes.

Sun, married with two children, had taught in the school for 14 years.
